Fall is in the air and Veggies to Table is busy harvesting tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, zucchini, pumpkins, squash, and more. They have now donated over 36,000 pounds of organic produce and over 40,000 stems of joyful flowers to those in need of nourishment and joy in just over three years.
Contest update: Win a week in Paris
There is still time to get into their French theme raffles for a chance to win a week in a Paris apartment, a weekend in Montreal, French chocolates, cookbooks, linens, soap and much more. Participate to help them grow even more produce to donate to the 1 in 5 children / 1 in 7 adults who go hungry every day in our community. The raffles ends September 17 and winners will be drawn on September 22.
Join Veggies to Table founder and French native Alain Ollier for a French macaron cooking class this Saturday, September 10 (there are three time slots to choose from) at Penobscot Bay Language School in Rockland. You’ll learn how to make these delicious treats and take some home too, of course! There will also be beautiful Veggies to Table flowers for sale in the school gardens. Limited space: register here
Fall help, glass jars, shavings, leaves and more
Veggies to Table can use more helping hands this fall to harvest, plant, mow, mulch, prune and prepare the farm for winter. They can also use help planting garlic and tulips and digging and dividing dahlias (1000 plants!), along with grant writing, events and other behind-the-scenes tasks. And, if you have any shavings and leaves, they’ll happily take them out of your hands to use to mulch the farm. Glass jars are also welcome. Rather than recycling them, Veggies to Table will use them to keep their free flower bouquets fresh!
